Your child’s smile is a precious thing to see. Seeing our children smile brightens up our mornings and brings positivity throughout our day. That smile of theirs can get them through life with optimism. As a parent, you would not want to turn that smile into a frown.
Children all over the world are living with some kind of Orthodontic problem. Several parents wait for their children’s teeth to grow out before proceeding with any kind of treatment such as Orthodontic Dental braces, only to find out that it had been better and easier for their child if it had been addressed much earlier.
Malocclusion is an Orthodontic Problems my Child might face. This is the misalignment between the two dental arches as your child bites. Below are the following types. A common treatment for malocclusion is letting your child have Orthodontic Dental Braces. At Invisalign center, our dental specialists suggest custom made aligners for children to correct the issue at the earliest.
Abnormal Eruption
This occurs when the tooth is growing at the wrong place in the gums. The tooth may be impacted as well if there is a full blockage on the tooth’s growth. A surgical procedure is needed for this case.
Crossbite
A Crossbite happens when the upper teeth bite inside the lower teeth rather than outside. It is when the teeth are either closer to the cheek or tongue.
Crowding
There may be a discrepancy with your child’s jaw size to his/her teeth size. This usually causes crowding when the teeth are either too big or too small and the jaw is disproportionate to accommodate the teeth.
Excessive Spacing
As the name suggests, this is when there are excessive gaps in between teeth. It may be a result of teeth failing to grow in or not present due to injury, disease, or possibly trauma. Excessive puts the teeth at risk of shifting out of position.
Open Bite
When the upper and lower teeth are not meeting at the center, it creates a gap between the two. An open bite may be caused by an infantile swallowing pattern also called tongue thrusting or excessive thumb sucking.
Overbite
This is the most common malocclusion. It happens when the upper front teeth bite is far down over the lower teeth, In severe cases when the front teeth are too far, the lower teeth tend to bite into the palate or the roof of the mouth.
Overjet
Similar to an Overbite, an Overjet is when the upper front teeth extend too far forward or the lower teeth don’t extend forward far enough.
Underbite
Opposite to and Overbite, Underbite, on the other hand, occurs when the lower teeth extend past the upper teeth. This is usually caused by either an undergrowth over the lower jaw or the upper jaw.
Is My Child too young for Orthodontic Dental Braces
Parents need to let their children visit the dentist at least twice a year. This way, any problems can be determined early. Early recognition will let your dentist asses on the best treatment for your child.
